Cong is surrounded on all sides by streams making it an inland island. Just outside of the town is Ashford Castle; a 19th century Victorian style castle built by the Guinness family. It has been converted into a hotel.
Monks' fishing house on the River Cong. Built most likely in the 15th or 16th century. This river is the border between County Mayo and County Galway and flows into Lough Corrib, the second largest lake in Ireland.
